What Experts are saying about Lungs Cancer

A wake-up call to create lung cancer awareness.!!!

Lung cancer is the world’s leading cause of cancer-related deaths. Early detection is the key to survival. It is the second most common type of cancer. Sadly 50% of the people die within just 1 year of being diagnosed
Lung cancer can be developed by the unbounded growth of abnormal cells in one or both lungs. These cells multiply rapidly to form tumors.

This abnormal development of cells always occurs in the diseased lung(s). In rare cases, healthy lungs are also found affected.
As tumors grow larger and multiply more, they weaken the lungs' ability to pump oxygen to the circulation system.

According to WHO, each year 7.6 million deaths are caused by cancer worldwide, in which lung cancer makes it the number one cancer killer by causing 1,370,000 deaths alone each year.

Cancer is usually the result of the unwanted growth of cells that don’t die naturally unlike healthy cells. However, the normal cells in the body follow a defined path of growth, multiplication, and death.

Unlike healthy cells, Cancer cells don’t experience defined death and instead continue to grow and multiply this leads to a massive growth of abnormal cells. Medical test like screening with CT for lung cancer has been demonstrated to reduce lung cancer mortality.

Some of the common symptoms that may lead to lung cancer include coughing, wheezing, hoarseness, and fatigue that are often confused with mild cold and flu or might be a viral infection.

Smoking is one of the leading causes of lung cancer. Yet, not everyone who smokes gets cancer, nor does everyone who gets lung cancer is a smoker. Similarly, if a person is exposed to radon, asbestos or any cancer-causing agents then they are also at a higher risk of it.

Inhaling other individuals smoke also known as “second-hand smoke” or “passive smoking” can also cause cancer. Passive smoking can increase the risk of getting lung cancer by a quarter and may also build up the danger of getting the cancers of the voice box (larynx) and upper throat (pharynx). Passive smoking can cause premature death in non-smokers. Nonsmokers who are vulnerable to secondhand smoke are inhaling many of the same cancer-causing substances and poisons as smokers.

Recent research documented in THE BMJ refers that treating hypertension by a specific medication builds up the risk of lungs cancer as compared to the other drugs of its kind. People use angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor drugs (ACEIs) for managing hypertension.

Lung cancer treatments may include surgery, radiation treatments, chemotherapy or one of several interventional radiology procedures. Discuss lung cancer risks, symptoms and treatment options with your doctor. No tobacco product is safe in any form to be it the casual one or the e-cigarettes and smokeless tobacco products, and there’s no evidence that they can help you successfully quit smoking. They may be just as addictive and may contain dangerous levels of nicotine, chemicals, neurotoxins, and metals. Talk to your doctor about safe and effective ways to quit smoking and stay tobacco-free.
